The Thuraya Satellite footprint covers the entire Australian Continent and at least 200 kilometres out to sea. Total coverage area of the service is depicted below. Areas outside of domestic continental Australia and 200 kilometres out to sea from Australia will be considered as International Roaming Calls.

The Thuraya system is a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite system designed to provide voice, fax, data and packet telecommunications services to users. Fax and Data services are currently unavailable.
